A grand total of 34 teams will compete for honours in 3 categories in our Invitational Teams Championships 2012. Teams in the Open Category will compete for THE Mind Stretcher Learning Centre Challenge Cup.
We thank all teams for their support and we wish all teamS an enjoyable Championships this Sunday 29 July 2012 at the Katong Junction Level 2 Atrium. All teams to report by 8.45 am.

MIND STRETCHER LEARNING CENTRE CHALLENGE CUP.
After we released the entry forms for the Invitational Schools Team event, we received many interesting and positive feedback and suggestions. Taking into consideration the constructive feedback and requests we have decided to ‘re-can’ the event to simply a Open team Championships so that many other organizations and non-schools teams can take part. Due to space constraint we can only take in not more than 40 teams. Please confirm your entries early. Lunch will also be provided for participating teams. The rules and regulations are as follows :
Organizer
The event is organized by the Eastern Knights Chess Club, managed by the Chess Academy (Singapore) Pte Ltd and shall be played under the FIDE Laws of Chess and the following rules and regulations. (SCF Rated Event).
Categories
a) Open (Open to All) No Restrictions.
b) Junior A (Under 12 years of age as at 1 January 2012) (Open & Girls’ Teams)
c) Junior B (Under 9 years of age as at 1 January 2012) (Open & Girls’ Teams)
Eligibility
Thekevent is open to all Teams. There will not be any restrictions whatsoever. Teams NEED NOT be bona-fide members from schools, junior colleges, universities, chess clubs, company’s recreation clubs or community clubs/centers. All such organizations and schools are cordially invited to send teams. Girls may join Open Teams. Prizes shall also be awarded to top all-gi2ls’ teams in each category. Each organization shall be limited to one team per category (per gender – ie 1 team Open and 1 team Girls). The Championships shall be limited to a total of 40 teams on a first come first served basis.
Venue
Katong Junction – 2nd Level Atrium, 451 Joo Chiat Road, Singapore 427664.
Time Limit
30 minutes per player to complete a game. FIDE Rule on Zero Start shall apply.
System of Play
Swiss system of 5 rounds with Swiss Manager Pairing using Game Points. Recording of moves is not compulsory. In the event of a tie for rankings, Match Points, WP, SB and PS shall be used in this order. .

Prizes
Prizes (sponsored by Mind Stretcher Learning Centre) will be awarded to the Top 5 Open Teams and 3 Girls’ Teams in each category. Merit Prizes shall be awarded to teams from member of the Eastern Knight Chess Club and Academy. The Organizers reserves the right to increase or reduce the number of prizes in each category as deem appropriate.
Rules & Regulations
Any disputes aside from FIDE Laws of Chess shall be vested with the Organizers whose decision shall be final and no correspondences would be entertained. Team Composition & Board Order Each Team shall comprised of not more than 4 players and not less than 3 players and players must be placed in the respective order – 1, 2, 3, 4. Changes to team line-up and replacements shall be subjected to an admin penalty of $ 25.00 per player. However, no changes to teams and board order shall be allowed after the commencement of the Championships. There will not be any rating restrictions on board placements as well.
Entry Fee
$ 115.00 per team – (Payable by IFAAS (for schools only), Cash, Nets or crossed cheque to Chess Academy (Singapore) Pte. Ltd. Refunds for withdrawal shall not be entertained. Teams from the Academy and Eastern Knights Chess Clubs shall be eligible for a $ 10.00 discount. Entry Fee is inclusive of lunch for all players.
Closing Date
Shall be Wednesday 25 July 2012 by 7.00 pm or the first 40 entries received. Late entries shall not be entertained.
Indemnity
By consenting to take part in this event, participants declare that they will abide by the Rules and Regulations pertaining to this Tournament and they will not hold the Organizers responsible for any mishaps or injuries sustained during the course of the event.
