This is an  INDIVDUAL EVENT and it is also part of the SCF (Singapore Chess Federation) Grand Prix 2013. This is a FIDE Rapid rated event.

Sunday 2 June 2013, 9.00 am to 6.30 pm  (Competitors to report by 8.45 am)

4) Eligibility:
Open to all. There shall be three categories, (a) Open Category (No restrictions) (b) Challengers (FIDE – unrated players) (c) Under-8 Category. Age shall be as on 1 January 2013. 

5) Mode of Competition:
7 Rounds Swiss using Swiss Manager with 25 minutes for each player to complete the game.

6) Entry Fee:
Shall be $ 18.00 per participant (Passion Card Members & students of event manager) and $ 20.00 (Non Passion Card Members.

7) Prizes:
Trophies shall be presented to the top 10 Individual winners (Male) and top 5 winners (Female) in each of the three categories. Cash Prizes for the Open Category only, shall be – Champion: $200.00; 1st Runner-Up: $150.00; 2nd Runner-Up: $100.00; 4th – 5th: $50.00 each. Merit Prizes shall be awarded for Under 12 and Under 10 participants in the Challengers Section.

8) Family Prizes:
Although this is an INDIVIDUAL EVENT, 5 Trophies each shall be awarded to the best Family Teams (Duos (2 members) and Trios (3 members)). The total score of each member in the family shall be added up to determine the best family teams. Eligibility for Family Team Members shall be parents, grandparents, siblings, cousins, uncles and aunties. Cash Prizes shall also be awarded for family teams (Duos & Trios).

9) Under 8 Category:
Will not be eligible for SCF Grand Prix 2013 points and the category will be unrated. Merit prizes shall also be presented for pre-school participants.

10) Closing Date:
Sunday 26 May 2013 at 7.00 pm or the first 250 entries. Late entries and entries without payment will not be accepted. Entry Fee paid is non-refundable.

 11)In the event of any disputes (outside the Laws of Chess), the organizer’s decision shall be final and no further correspondences shall be entertained. All participants agree not to hold the organizers responsible for any mishaps or injuries incurred arising from their participation in this event.

Due to popular demand and requests from parents whose children are taking part in the forthcoming National Schools’ Championships 2013, we have aceded to the numerous requests to allow all boys (regardless of whether they have relatives or siblings taking part in the Women’s Open and Challengers) to also take part in the Invitational Category. This serves as a warm up event in their preparations for the schools championships. However, points won will not be part of the SCF grand prix scores. All other details remained unchanged.

(c) Invitational Category (For Males who are related or siblings of Participants in Category (a) and (b) ). Participants who are Under 12 years of age may opt to play in the Open Category but they shall not be eligible for Under 12,10,8 and Pre-Schools Category Prizes.

5)Mode of Competition:
7 Rounds Swiss using Swiss Manager with 25 minutes for each player to complete the game.

a)      Open (Open to Primary School Boys and Girls without age restrictions)
b)      Under 11 Open (Boys/Girls Under 11 years as at 1 January 2013)

Attire
All Participants must be in thir school uniform or PE attire.

Eligibility
Participants must be in Primary Schools. International School Students are also cordially invited. The Organizers reserves the right to reject or accept entry/entries.

Katong Junction – 2^nd Level Atrium, 451 Joo Chiat Road, Singapore 427664.

Time Control
25 minutes per player to complete a game. FIDE Rule on Zero Start shall apply. A player who is defaulted by the Zero Start Rule may request the Chief Arbiter to reinstate him/her for the ensuing rounds.

System of Play
Swiss system of 7 rounds using the Swiss Manager Pairing Program. Recording of moves is not required. In the event of a tie for rankings, WP, SB and PS shall be used in this order.  .

Individual and Team Prizes
Individual Prizes will be awarded to the Top 10 positions (Boys) and Top 5 positions (Girls) in each category. The Organizers reserves the right to increase or reduce the number of prizes as deem appropriate. For the Under 7 Category, Merit Prizes shall be awarded to the top 5 (Boys) and top 3 (Girls) Under 5 participants. Top 3 Team Prizes (Open) shall be awarded to Schools in each respective categories based on the best results (score) of the best 3 players (Boys and Girls combined) from each school.

Rules & Regulations
Any disputes aside from FIDE Laws of Chess shall be vested with the Organizers whose decision shall be final and no correspondences would be entertained.

Entry Fee
$ 25.00 per participant or $ 22.00 for Club Members and Academy Students – (Payable by IFFAS, Cash, Nets or crossed cheque made payable to Chess Academy (Singapore) Pte. Ltd.  Refunds for withdrawal shall not be permitted.

Closing Date
Shall be Sunday 24 February 2013 by 7.00 pm or the first 150 entries. Late entries shall not be entertained.

Indemnity
By consenting to take part in this event, participants declare that they will abide by the Rules and Regulations pertaining to this Tournament and they will not hold the Organizers responsible for any mishaps or injuries sustained during the course of the event.
